What to do when there is a wax build-up on your floor?
September 5, 2017
Waxing is a great way to maintain the freshness and shine of tiles while protecting them from further wear, tear and scuffing. However, over time the layers of wax can start to build up, yellow with age and make your beautiful tiled flood look dirty. Here’s what you need to do if you find you have a wax build-up on your tiled flooring.
STEP 1: Clean the area by vacuuming up any loose dirt and dust. Giving it a once over with a mop and warm soapy water is a good idea too, to get all the little bits of remaining loose dirt out of the way.
STEP 2: Strip the old wax off of the tiles using water and club soda. Make sure that you open all of your windows and have ample airflow in the space before you begin. Use a sponge mop to spread the solution, and allow it to sit on the floor for a few minutes.
STEP 3: Gently scrub the area using a scrub brush and then mop up any extra liquid. Go over the floor once more with the mop using fresh, hot and soapy water. Then, dry the floor with towels or rags or leave to air dry.
